Open Questions
Nothing on this page is a secret being kept from anybody. It is the list of things the party has personally seen, been told, or promised, and has not resolved.

Things with an object attached
The Chain Breaker's provenance. Dwarven, deep iron, silver runes in an archaic dialect, made to oppose the Old Ones, and found in a behir's nest. Nobody has asked how it got there, or who made it, and there is a dwarven trade town with a temple of Torag in it two days' ride from the keep.
The Oathbow. It shocked Kvothe unconscious and injured Ubo. It accepted Jocelin, and it has accepted Sylvara. Nobody knows what it is selecting for.
The tainted spear. Refused, and left where it was. Why did an orc raiding party in an abandoned copper mine have it?
The runed coin. An Underdark spell anchor, one of a connected pair, left in Voren's grocery basket. Where is the other half?
The scrying rope. Rindle planted it in the mind flayers' tribute chest and left the matching piece with Voren. Rindle is gone and Voren is taken. Is the trap still live, and who can trigger it?
The brass key. Won at a storytelling contest. It has never opened anything.
The golden apple. Grown on the Gulthias Tree, traded to Voren for spells, and never seen again.
The tablets from Ioun's temple. The Iron Circle chased two people across a province for them. Ruin walked off with them, and nobody ever asked what was on them.
Jocelin's cache. +1 plate and a +1 bastard sword, on a trail outside Nenlast, exactly where they were left.
Things with a person attached
Voren the Green. Taken by something in purple robes that witnesses could touch and then not remember. Still missing.
Why Varnak wanted Agatha alive. "Keep Agatha alive, kill the rest." No explanation was ever given. Varnak is dead.
The dragon under the keep. The party woke a Deep Dragon in the tunnels beneath Broken Spire Keep and ran. The Goblin King says a dragon ordered his people to rebuild the keep and promised help against Araniax, and his goblins are terrified of it. Bogani says the Deep Dragon later took the Sunken Grove and can turn incorporeal.
Whatever killed the behir. Something in those tunnels caught a wounded, invisible behir and snapped its neck, within a few hours, close by. It is still down there.
Freya. Left a note saying the keep could stand on its own, that she had her own agenda, and to leave the goblins alone. Nobody has heard from her since.
The figure in the Fastormel sewer. Not undead. Seen once, during the fighting retreat. Never identified, never followed up.
Gilda Stoneheart. The dwarf healer who followed Jocelin specifically, and has not appeared since Jocelin died.
Whoever is feeding the enemy intelligence. Written orders on two fire giants named the party, and named Caldris as travelling with them. That was current, specific, and better than it should have been. The party noticed and did not chase it down.
Caldris. Gulthias said he would "know how to make contact" when the time came, and did not say how. The party have never asked him whose army he served in life, or what he saw at the Sanctuary that made him look like that.
Vortikand. Generous, useful, and correct about everything so far, on about an hour's acquaintance, in a campaign whose central threat is an enemy that wears other people's minds.
Things nobody has explained
"A savant of the depths." A voice in a dream at the keep, alongside a great eye, offering knowledge beyond the party's pact and threatening to unravel their thoughts. Never mentioned again.
"Towers." Plural. The Way said towers. Nobody asked how many, or where the others are.
"Fed by magical creatures." What the Way said powers the towers. He did not say which creatures, or where they come from.
"From mist to mist the dead shall march." What the runed stone said when Ysolde touched it.
The Potions of Domination. They lower resistance to mind control. Found on orcs in the Spiderfell. Nobody could ever say who makes them.
Darlakanand. Named once, in a note off a Derro corpse, as someone who gives the Derro orders.
The Glass Shores and the Singing Stones. Named once each, in the same note. The Singing Stones heal faster and help spellcasting, and the enemy patrols them. The party set out for them once and never arrived.
"A maw." Where the Bloody Six were taking Sylvara.
"The great magic." The Way told the party to avoid it and said there is no route through it. He did not say what it is.
"The way." What the Keeper said would come if the bow was not returned. It turned out to be a person. It is not clear that is all it is.
The master. The Keeper and the Way both serve one. Neither has named them, and nobody has asked twice.
The Mist Tower portal. Disrupted, not destroyed. The black iron ring in the Shrieking Mire is still there and still incomplete, and Zytherion is still guarding it.
What Fallcrest did about Gulthias's ultimatum. Banner carried it to the Lord Warden months ago. No answer has ever come back to the party.
Things the party did that have not come back on them yet
Recorded here because they are as real as anything above.
- Kvothe burned the Gulthias Tree and opened the sarcophagus. Everything Gulthias has done since, the party started
- They looted a barrow in the Barrow Downs — ground the Winterbole Tribes hold sacred — and then went to those tribes to argue about the desecration of ancestors
- They fed at least seven Iron Circle mercenaries to a giant spider, five of them drugged in their sleep
- Agatha killed an officer who had surrendered. Her god knows. The tribes value oathkeeping
- They misrepresented the pact with Gulthias to the tribal council, on a chieftain's advice, and that chieftain is now complicit in it
- They have been killing Derro for a year and a half, and one of them has now explained that most of those Derro were slaves
