The Chronicles

These are the campaign's in-character documents. Letters written home, journals kept badly and then kept well, and reports filed with the Riders of the Watch by two people who could not agree on how the fight had gone.

They cover the first stretch of the campaign, from the Sunless Citadel to the empty tower in Fallcrest. The same events are told plainly in the Campaign Diary. These are the versions with an audience and something to prove.

Worth knowing while you read: Kvothe kept the party's written chronicle, and lost it. Ledger and ink went down a crevice in the Underdark on a critically failed roll. In fiction, the record below no longer exists.
